So because this is going AFTER Olga's testimony, we have to change Phoenix's lines.
You’re filled with a power that’s more than you know So attack whenever something seems to show You saw Orly lying, and how she held her neck Her nervous tell alerted you that she was a suspect!
Use perception to excel Find the Truth — That’s how you’ll win And that’s the ace up your sleeve The ace up your sleeve

Oh, this song comes after Orly's testimony? Sweet. A bit of a problem, though. The line with the suspect part doesn't fit what we have for the existing melody. If we want that to fit, it should be changed to "her nervous tell told you she was a suspect" even though the stressed syllable in "nervous" will be on the wrong one lol. If that isn't wanted, shall I change the melody to make it fit the new lyrics?

Yeah, probably just change the melody a little. It sounds weird in my head otherwise XD

ok I'm putting the link to the sheet music again as a gentle reminder that there is slight progress on this song, but only progress in the sense that it is rapidly changing. ness (aka spaceballsupreme) and I mostly ness tho lol made some pretty big changes to ace up your sleeve, like the melody that exists on the sheet music is quite changed, so I just wanted to mention that for those who like being very well-acquainted with all the song, and that I am in the process of changing the time signature from 4/8 to 6/8 after phoenix says "because I am" because this song probably would make more sense in 6/8. and that's all, thanks for reading *flies away*

...I can't believe I didn't see this till now. That sounds so amazing!!
I have two questions, one because I'm ignorant and don't know music, the other just out of a bit of concern.
Firstly, why is this written in 6/7/4 - 8 time? Just curious. Been learning about time signatures in Music Theory class, and haven't been able to think of a single reason why you wouldn't want to use quarter notes as the beat. Just curious. I really don't know
Second, what is Apollo's voice range? I bring this up simply because I'm a tenor with a decent range (I am expanding to more high notes though, at a C currently) and find Here Comes Justice in it's original key impossible to sing through ("up all night and I know that Mr. Wright" specifically), while Apollo's part here is pretty low. Both sound awesome but I was just wondering what range Apollo is being written for.
...and that came out sounding super harsh now that I read over it. I'm sorry!! I love all the songs I just want to make sure we can find somebody to sing all of it!!

Id say that Apollo is most likely on the lower to mid tenner, esecially in the japiness version.

I love all the songs I just want to make sure we can find somebody to sing all of it!! aaaaah that's a good question, devon! I don't know much about theory myself and I call myself composer for this musical pssssht but honestlyy I chose to go with 6/7/4 - 8 time because I felt like it and I'm in the process of changing this completely to 6/8 time coz 4/8 is a mess but I think I chose 6/8 coz of the nature of the notes. like.... if it was in 4/4, I'd have to put a lot of 8th notes anyway to keep the same rhythm, so might as well just put it in 6/8 ??? even I don't know myself omg,,,,,I'm like 78% I chose 6/8 coz 6/8 is easier for me to understand;;;; as for your second question, it does look like we don't have a defined voice range for apollo yet oo ps,,,, I made an extra effort to change up the melody for apollo's part to make it lower coz I have a tendency to create melodies that fit in my range, which is pretty high, so I made sure that any male singers can actually sing it !!

Ah okay, gotcha. I was more wondering why 6/8 over 6/4. Changing the amount of notes in the bars I totally get I think it work super well, and the song sounds freaking rad so whatever you've done it works XD

See, 6/8 has the rhythm of ONE two three FOUR five six ONE two three FOUR five six. Technically this can still be done in 6/4, but for an experienced bandie 6/8 immediately signifies that they should be thinking in triplets. 3/4 and 6/8 are almost identical, the only difference being the strength of the downbeats. Beat 4 is a downbeat, but it's weaker than beat 1, which significantly changes the style. Songs in 3/4 usually do whatever they like. 3/4 can really help a song sound more on edge because each measure cuts off earlier than we're used to: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnZlYZBRDuIwww.youtube.com/watch?v=k_mpaF5-SlUOn the other hand, songs in 6/8 tend to be continuous and flowing, and they can make a song feel slower and more drawn out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IagRZBvLtwwww.youtube.com/watch?v=04854XqcfCY(Not all songs in these time signatures take full advantage of it. I think these ones used their time signatures well.) If you ever need to hear what the difference in a time signature can do to the style of a piece, I'd listen to "strange humors" by John Mackey.

I feel like I know most of music theory but I don't actually know any of the terminology. It's like knowing all of the words in a foreign language but none of the grammar XD

I love all the songs I just want to make sure we can find somebody to sing all of it!! dont worry it didnt sound harsh at all!! ahgh seeing as im...a part of working on this song i really should be looking at the thread more often to answer your question though, although i feel like there were definitely better choices than 4/8, 6/8 has a better flow here because theres more emphasis on "1" and "4" so basically what madfox saidi have a few examples of my own here! meridian changes time signature about 2000 times but you only need to pay attention to the beginning: this is in 6/4 (it switches to 7/8 later but shh) www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZog0e7RFNgmerry go round of life is in 3/4 but because it could easily be written in 6/8 because 6/4 doesn't have the extra "ump" on beat 4 that 6/8 does (which is beat 1 in 3/4) www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMGetv40FkIeven though you count to 6 in both of them, theres a clear difference so ? conclusion?? it sounds more waltzy i guess and it fits better in the song, i think

I’m super sorry it took this long to respond but that sounds fantastic!! I know activity around here has taken a dive, but do you know of anything that needs to be worked on as of right now? I can’t really write music and it’s hard to tell where people left off doing things. The song really does sound amazing though! Great job!
