Anyone here cosplay? I'd love to talk about it with people who share my dorky interest!

I do! I don't make my own costumes anymore, though, lol. I came to terms with being a horrible seamstress years ago. Later this month I'll be at Animazement in Raleigh, cosplaying Sailor Uranus, Nora from RWBY, and Jodi Starling from Detective Conan. As far as Ace Attorney goes, I've cosplayed Mia and Ema in the past!

Lol I had all my cosplays listed, then the page refreshed...
So far I have Trucy, Izaya Orihara, Lapis Lazuli, Fem!America and Fem!France.
I really want to do Kay Faraday, Athena Cykes, Sebastian Debeste, Lamiroir, Mia/Maya Fey (cause our cosplay group needs a Maya) for Ace Attorney, and I'm planning Sapphire and Pearl from Steven Universe.
I've found people are split on making their own costumes. On the one hand it's cheaper, and you get to make it to your specifications, but it also takes a lot of time and skill... But I choose to drive myself insane with it XD

I've done Pearls and Toriel (Undertale). I feel like I'm too tall for most of the Ace Attorney gals, though.

I've done Dipper Pines from Gravity falls and Steven Universe and am going to be Adrien Agreste from Miraculous Ladybug at Awesome con this July. I kinda want to do an Ace Attorney character but I'm mostly being held back by either a brightly colored suit, bizarrely styled hair, or a combination of the two

I've done Simon Blackquill with this free hakama I got from my Anime Club. I also have Tsubomi Kido from Mekakucity Actors.
I also have a bad Miles Edgeworth cosplay that's just my pink shirt, black vest, and tissues. Lots of tissues.

I could never do all the sewing, but I like to scavenge for things I can wear as cosplay and then wear again casually.
I've cosplayed as Fem!Luke and a strange younger Emmy from Professor Layton, as well as Phoenix, by doing that.
I've been looking for stuff for Trucy and Fem!Edgeworth for a while now but I haven't had much success.

I was gonna do a Vera Misham cosplay, but due to lack of resources and VERY limited budget I can't get one [also its so hard to find a shirt which looks even slightly like hers?] but i'd love to do one in the future i love her or Emmy from Professor layton i love her too
but i was gonna do a hobo!phoenix cosplay for a con x) I've never done any cosplays before i've always been either too socially inept to consider going to a con, or too self-conscious to even try and find a cosplay XD

Aww well let me tell you cosplaying at a con is soooo fun. I met my Ace Attorney squad at DaishoCon and I love them. I also met someone at an artist booth who loved my Trucy cosplay, and another person who was squealing when she saw me, it was so cute. Being self-conscious ends up being a waste of time, you find XD

Heh, I haven't ever been to a con either. I might like to go one time, but I wouldn't wanna go alone and it's kinda expensive, especially since I'm about to be a college student.
Maybe we can just all meet up in a year or two and we can all have our own con and cosplay and hang out. XD

There do seem to be a lot of EST/CST and lots of GMT, so maybe not all of us at once. XD

I am late to the party here but I cosplay DD!Apollo with my friend as Athena, though I got mistaken for a train operator once, which was pretty amusing. We made our cosplays with help from my mother the seamstress

I'll start making/buying cosplay when I'm not broke XD

I understand the 'when not broke' thing so much Though what annoyed me to no end was the fabric choices for Edgeworth. Me and my friend were going to do Young Edgeworth and Franziska, but every time I found a piece of fabric the right colour for his suit, it was nowhere near big enough, and it's impossible to match to another piece. One day I will find it. I hope.

Are you searching at stores like Joanns, with fabric on big rolls? Cause they would probably be able to call another store and see if they have more in stock

|
Post by Aznera on May 17, 2016 18:23:03 GMT
I don't recognise that store, but could be a location thing. I've looked in big stores, but they don't have the kind of fabric i'm looking for on rolls usually. I prefer using wool blends etc for suits, and the best fabric stores near me only do that kind of fancy suit stuff in pieces :/ It's an annoying system

I really want to make my own dresses-- hopefully ace attorney themed!

If I got good enough at making them, I'd sell them on Etsy, too.

lol I am super bad at everything crafty, so I usually buy a cosplay and/or scour local thrift stores for stuff. I've done Trucy from Ace Attorney (I got my dad to do Hobo!Phoenix along with me.) and Captain Jack and Jenny Flint from Doctor Who. My friend did Madame Vastra and came with me. I'm working on getting all the stuff so I can do Monster Kid from Undertale. I'd love to do someone from Steven Universe or Gravity Falls sometime because those shows are the love of my life.

Fun fact: I'm going to make a Darkrai cosplay for halloween this year because seniors get to dress up. My best friend is going to be Ralt or one of it's evolutions.
