Bullet point the plot points you really want to see in Act 2. There's a very brief case outline on the Act 2 board for reference!

- Trucy and Apollo special bonding time/Doing labor for random strangers because if we don't Phoenix and Trucy might starve
- Ema Song: A Tale of Bitterness
- Klaviers Song about being a Real German who is about to best you in court (Spoiler: he doesnt)
- Wockys Rap
- Trucy kidnaps herself and then teaches Apollo about that magic doughnut he has on his wrist so they can win todays court proceedings
- Alitas Testimony
I feel like there needs to be a song between Trucy kidnapping herself and Alita's testimony.

We aren't really going after specific songs here. This is meant to encompass the actual plot points we want to hit. "Wockys Rap" isn't exactly a plot point, although "Trucy kidnaps herself and then teaches Apollo about that magic doughnut" is. Sorry if I wasn't clear :S

So I just read through the outline, and the things that struck me were the least important rather than the most important. (Sorry!)
We can easily cut out most of Wesley's testimony. Honestly, if he says one thing, then the kidnapping happens, and then he confesses and the arrive at the Major Contradiction (why was the victim shot from the right when his left was facing Wocky) then they call up Alita, I could see it working.
Honestly, we can prob'ly eliminate the mystery of Phoenix getting hit. Maybe he's hit but he knows exactly who and Edgey's prosecuting the guy to the full extent of the law and they use the fact that Phoenix is "in the hospital" to get APOLLO there to take Eldoon's request. (Kinda play it as an apology thing. Like, sorry I made you present forged evidence. Here, have a pseudo-client.)
I think we can make this one trial and one investigation day, honestly. I might just go write a second summary with things rearranged and taken out, and then you can see from there?
I know that's definitely not what you had in mind, but sorry, MadFox. If you'd prefer what you've got going that's fine!

Hey, so I'm sort of wondering... is there like a definite split between where one Act starts and the next begins? Like does it essentially follow the case pattern, when Act 1 is Turnabout Trump, Act 2 is Turnabout Corner, and so on? I don't know if that's been figured out already, but it seems like that's a good place to start if we're figuring out key events, y'know?

Edgey does have a tendency to kick a man while he's down, but... XD I don't know how we're going to do our 3 connected cases, to be honest. If we remove Wesley Stickler, we wouldn't really need to cover the entire part with the panties, but what is Turnabout Corner without underwear?

How about this? I copied the case outline from over there and edited it around:
•Two months after the first case.
• Apollo goes to the Agency because Trucy called and told him Phoenix was in the hospital because he was hit by a car.
•Apollo goes to the Agency and meets Trucy, recognizes her as bloody ace chick.
• She takes him to talk to Phoenix, who has been released and is in bed. Phoenix tells him he has a sprained ankle and a pulled hamstring, so he can't walk.
• I'd really love if they actually discussed the Ace a bit because it's kinda important? But if so APOLLO is just like "WHY" and Phoenix is like "BECAUSE. YOU WILL UNDERSTAND." And then Eldoon comes in.
• Eldoon wants his noodle stand, Trucy wants her panties.
•The three go to Eldoon's "house" and chat about Meraktis. Also the cart. And they run into Alita and give her a flier.
• They ask what happened at the clinic because of the police cars. Eldoon doesn't know but he suspects Meraktis for the cart and he suggests they start there.
• Trucy and Apollo sneak into the Meraktis clinic garage and find panties but no noodle evidence. Apollo only then discovers that the panties are magic.
• They go to the office to return the panties and ask Phoenix for advice. Alita is there and hires them. Mentions the noodle stand.
•They go to meet Wocky. He is arguing with his dad.
• Dad leaves. Wocky expresses his guilt. Talks about Alita. Talks about his motive. Explains how bad he's hurt.
• They go out to People Park. Ema kicks then out. Apollo pouts and finds the random slipper on the ground. Ema says he can take it if he leaves.
• They go meet Plum, who explains a bit about the crime. Also that Wocky's her son. And that they're mobsters. Y'know. Also her panties.
• They go and ask Phoenix for help and actually ask him this time. He suggests the cocaine.
• They go back to People Park and meet Klavier. He is glimmerous and also a fop.
• They continue. They meet Ema who is very angry and glaring daggers. Apollo is all too happy to leave. Trucy is not. They present the cocaine and she brightens considerably.
•Ema is now helpful and gives them information. They learn that the victim is Pal Meraktis, who was shot in the right temple while dragging a noodle stand. They find underwear on the ground. Ema mentions there’s a witness to the murder and offers them access to the clinic.
• They meet Plum Kitaki as they leave. She tells them Wocky is a baby who can’t actually fire a gun. However, the gun did belong to the Kitakis, and only the Kitakis can access their gun cabinet. Plum rants about Alita and how she’s lowkey suspicious. She tells them that they need some clean money.
• On the way, they stop at Eldoon's. Eldoon thanks them for finding the noodle cart and complains about not having it. He rants about the Meraktis. Apollo deduces that Eldoon was once a surgeon, and Eldoon agrees to help with medical things.
•In the clinic, they find a pair of cute sandals and see that a pair of slippers is missing. They think to go to Ema and have her test the toe prints.
• They hear a crash in the back and run to the office. The intruder’s gone when they get there. Apollo wants to tell Klavier but Trucy wants to investigate first.
•They find a lamp with a broken bulb with a red-pink mark on the cord.
•They find a safe in the back of the office and use cocaine to break in. They find some files and realize Alita was Wocky's nurse. They also find a bullet lodged in the safe.
•They go back to People Park to tell Klavier about the break in. He jumps on his motorcycle to go but can't because some fan shoved a love letter in the tailpipe.
• Ema is using the footprint molds. They confirm Wesley's and Wocky's prints, and a third that APOLLO realizes match the slipper.
• They compare the fingerprints in the slippers to the ones in the sandals with Ema’s help. They match.
• She tells Apollo and Trucy that she doesn’t like Klavier because he caused Phoenix’s disbarment. They want to know more, but she said it would be better for them to find out on their own.
•They go to Eldoon’s. Eldoon explains the report and was horrified by it-- Wocky is very close to death. Eldoon explains that Alita also must’ve known how bad his condition was, but never told Wocky how bad it was.
•They go to the Agency with nothing else to do. Apollo gets mad at Phoenix for not telling him about the case 7 years ago.
• Phoenix wants to stand with APOLLO. Apollo still hasn't forgiven him. Trucy does instead. Eldoon's is watching for moral support, and Phoenix goes to watch with him.
•Wocky insists that he take the blame for the crime, but his dad’s like “no son”
•As the trial began, the Judge asked Prosecutor Gavin if the demons of his affair seven years ago had led to his long absence from the courtroom, to which Gavin simply replied that he was busy with his band but was now back in order to face down the one who had bested his brother.
• Klavier gives opening statement and calls Stickler to the stand.
• Klavier sets up the scene: Wocky and Meraktis facing eachother and Wesley to the south.
• Apollo objects and asks why the wound was in the right side of Meraktis' head rather than his forehead.
• Wesely testifies that he shouted and Meraktis turned, and Klavier makes fun of Apollo's forehead.
• Apollo points out that the footprints show that Stickler was on the opposite side of Meraktis, and so he should've been shot in the other side of the head.
•Trucy accused Stickler of being a panty thief. Stickler confesses to this, and is sent to the detention center for his crime.
• Recess is called to prepare Alita (Perhaps we say Wocky asked her to testify to prove him guilty?)
•Wocky complains to Apollo about Meraktis and how he was paid off by the Rivales family. He explains his injury more. He also moans that his father wants to start doing legal things. Wocky wants to be a gangster.
•The trial resumes.
• She said that when the family check-up had come, Wocky had gotten angry and taken a gun to hunt down the doctor. Klavier confirmed that the bullet matched a gun belonging to the Kitakis.
• Apollo can't find anything wrong
• Maybe this is where Trucy kidnaps herself?
• They work out through tell spotting that Alita is hiding something. They ask her to testify about her actions that day, and bring up her sandal.
•She testified that she was going to warn Meraktis of Wocky’s intentions. She said she didn’t have any sort of secrets about the incident. Apollo objected and presented the chart, asking why it had been locked away so tightly. He said that Meraktis was unable to admit that he couldn’t help Wocky and proved that Alita was in the same situation. Alita claimed she had no reason to return to the clinic for a six month old medical chart, but Apollo tell-spotted that she was playing with her ring. The check-up results had come in, and she was in trouble if she didn’t destroy the document.
•Tiala admitted she’d gone to see him because of the chart, but she claimed nothing else had happened.
• Klavier mentioned that the bullet from the safe matched the murder weapon and so something must've happened.
•Apollo claimed that Alita had been holding the doctor at gunpoint, convincing him to open the safe. Apollo also claimed that she didn’t care about Wocky at all, which she admitted to. Wocky was upset that she only wanted him for money.
•Klavier protested that if Alita had gotten Meraktis to open the safe, she would’ve taken the papers. Tiala testified that she had never taken Wocky’s gun and that she was the intruder they found.
•Tiala claimed it didn’t matter, since the weapon was Wocky’s gun and Wocky was at the scene of the crime. Klavier re-established the scene from yesterday, but Apollo objected with the contradiction from the day prior. Klavier then asked Apollo to explain the contradiction, and there was only one thing that made sense-- the killer was inside the murder cart all along.
•Apollo presented the slippers with Alita’s toe prints, showing they matched the shoe prints leading out of the noodle stand.
•Alita testified that she’d gone to the clinic, talked to the doctor, and left. Apollo tell-spotted her rubbing the side of her neck, and presented the lamp from Meraktis’s office. He asked her to remove her scarf, and her neck showed bruising from strangulation. She testified that she’d been attacked and blacked out, making it impossible for her to kill Meraktis.
• Apollo restated the order of events: Wocky found out his medical results, swore revenge, leading Tiala to try to get the chart back, ultimately leading to her getting attacked. Meraktis now had a “dead” body on his hands, so he stole the noodle cart to carry her. He brought the body into the park to throw it into the river, but ran into Wocky. Wesley Stickler yelled, waking Alita up, and she fired the pistol into Meraktis’s right temple.
•Tiala refused to admit to this. Klavier pointed out that it was irrational to use a noodle cart to haul a body when Meraktis had a car in the clinic. Trucy objected, claiming the car wasn’t functional. Klavier pointed out that it had been running normally when it hit Phoenix. Apollo presented Trucy’s magic panties to the court, restating that Stickler had ditched the panties in the tailpipe of the car, disabling the vehicle.
•Tiala admitted to the crime, saying she’d shot him in fear and run away as soon as Stickler had gone to chase Wocky. She then revealed that she’d picked Apollo as her attorney in the hopes that he would suck. Wocky is declared not guilty.
•Wocky is angry that Alita confessed to the murder, ignoring the fact that he’d been used. His dad shows up and calls him dumb, and Wocky calls his dad dumb. Apollo presented the medical chart, saying that his dad changed lifestyles to save Wocky’s life. Winfred was able to find a doctor able to operate on Wocky’s heart. Wocky ran out of the courthouse, and Winfred thanked the defense.
•Trucy asked Apollo to stay with the agency, and he agreed, thinking that Trucy was helpful and knew about his ability, though he wasn’t at all a fan of Phoenix. Trucy invited Apollo to watch her magic show and grab some Eldoon’s.

What if we have Wocky know from the start that he's close to death, and he knows that Pal was hiding that information from him? Just skip that whole thing. Then the only reason Wocky's medical file is important is because it has Alita's name on it, and she wants to destroy it. Skip doctor noodle, skip all of that testimony.

... That... really didn't change much. XD I thought it was gonna be more; sorry. It looks good to me! It has the spirit of the original trial without getting ridiculous. Although I noticed you snuck in that Phoenix wanted to stand at the bench with Apollo. That doesn't line up well with his character arc.

Good point. In the original, Trucy joined because Phoenix wasn't gonna be there, so I tried to give a reason why she would need to in this version. But, yeah, Phoenix would prob'ly leave it l to the two of them.
Also, as far as the kidnapping herself thing goes, how would that work? Got any ideas?

It's pretty early. If she has a song for her testimony, it could start afterwards. Or it could even be the same song as the kidnapping.

We can easily cut out most of Wesley's testimony. Honestly, if he says one thing, then the kidnapping happens, and then he confesses and the arrive at the Major Contradiction (why was the victim shot from the right when his left was facing Wocky) then they call up Alita, I could see it working. I think we can make this one trial and one investigation day, honestly. I might just go write a second summary with things rearranged and taken out, and then you can see from there? I know that's definitely not what you had in mind, but sorry, MadFox. If you'd prefer what you've got going that's fine! This is EXACTLY what I had in mind, actually. Honestly, the only part of Wesley's testimony that was of any value of all was Klavier calling Apollo "Herr Forehead". But apollo learns how to perception

Should we have a song for the scene where klavier first appears and then Phoenix talks about him, hinting at them possibly knowing each other.

Adding onto that idea, I think we had an original idea to just mash the entire investigative part into one song

Adding onto that idea, I think we had an original idea to just mash the entire investigative part into one song Do you think we should mesh stormy skyes into klaviers intro song? like his intro, than he leaves after letting Polly and trucy onto the scene. Apollo and Trucy then meet up with ema and, how about this, Phoenix gave trucy the powder telling her what it was and she pulls it out and ema recognises it (that cuts out ema kicking them off the scene) Ema then sings about how she hates her fop of a boss and lets it slip that he was the one who disbared phoenix. That would cut some out. Any suggustions or contradictions with anything already established.

I'm thinking of a similar format as The Schuyler Sisters from Hamilton. Bloom could start, telling Apollo and Trucy about Wocky whilst leading into a short recurring melody proclaiming "People Park" or something similar. Then we can have Klavier's part, the melody again, Stormy Skyes, and some sort of ending.

Ok! I'v had some plans for a klavier part so Ill type that up when I have time.

Hey guys. If we are going to do a bitter Ema song, should we add a bit of RftA spice to it?
The song would go like this:
Ema briefly telling about being neglected by her sister - her only family - and Lana's friends. Lana being accused of murder and she being helpless. [but not telling anything about Nick helping her, because canonically, she never told them] Ema studying overseas and aced top of her class, but failed the exams in the US. Ema complaining about her job as a local detective, stating she'd rather be in a lab than deal with case file over case file right now.
Then cut to the "And there you have it. Now what is it you guys want to ask me about?" line.

As some of you know, I'm working on a Rise From The Ashes musical project, so I could always carry a tune over if nobody has any objections. ...sorry.

So I've read through almost all of the forum posts I think? And I'm loving all of the ideas that you guys are presenting! But just as a curious and tentative inquiry/suggestion...has there been any discussion from everyone on what scenes are emotionally impactful in the game as a player? It seems like you guys have definitely got down important moments that move the story forward, but I'm curious if there's been talk (which I could have completely missed since I'm new) about scenes that carried the player through the game on the emotional side. Because I feel like it should be a priority to feature scenes that were emotionally investing when you played it, just as much as important plot elements should be.
While cutting immediately to Trucy in the office talking to Apollo would be more efficient, I personally think the opening scene to Turnabout Corner sets the mood for the whole case, and holds importance from a storytelling perspective. In a flash, three unrelated incidents are displayed without much to go off of. All with the overarching theme of "the wheel of fate" all in which quickly reach a climax and meet with a final "shot." It started off the case with a strong sense of intrigue, but also a chilling concern for those familiar faces involved. And it kept you wondering throughout the rest of the case how everything was connected, and just what significance they held.
How I imagine a song such as that would be somewhere along the same lines. A short opening song between thirty-seconds to a minute with a presence of intrigue and foreboding. The main lyrics could be sung by the victim perhaps, or simply a narrator about how the wheel of fate plays a role for us all. People like Trucy, Phoenix, and Eldoon have either one line or one word that allude to their individual incidents. Then as it begins to hit the climax, everyone's voices are in harmony until it either drops or suddenly gets cut short by the final shot in the park.
It's all just some thoughts and ideas though. I'm sorry if it's intruding on your guys' work in anyway! I really do love what you've come up with so far! I hope I'm not being rude!
But at the very least, I do think talking the emotionally investing scenes in general has merit to it? (But again, I could have missed that discussion somewhere?)So I've read through almost all of the forum posts I think? And I'm enjoying all of the ideas that you guys are presenting!

Well, that's the thing-- in such a complex story, we have to cut scenes in order to engage emotion. It would be my preference to skip over the vast majority of cases 2 & 3, only focusing on the character development pieces there. While I also loved the chilling feeling of the wheel of fate, Turnabout Musical left out a whole load of information and still was more than 3 hours.
The emotionally investing scenes should be the core of this musical. But we gotta be really careful which scenes we choose to use.

Reminder that the first investigation before you met Alita was Apollo and Trucy looking for random crap. Just putting it out there
