Before we get any further, Apollo justice: the musical forums, we need to have a talk. A talk about something really big.
We know what the plot of the game is. but do we know what the plot of the musical is? It's important to distinguish between the two, and there are several questions that need to be answered with that:
How long should the musical be?
What are the neccesarry points that we need to cover?
Are we going to add more?
Are we going to remove?
So this is the thread for talking about a solid, honest to goodness storyline, and from there, we can start working on a plot. It's just definetly best to figure out exactly what we need to write before we start writing it.
How should we go about this?

We started off hoping it would be about three hours-ish. I think. Double check with MadFox/Kai on that...
I think we're going through each act individually at this point to start narrowing down the important points. As far as overall arcs, we're thinking of themes rather than plot points to connect all the acts. We can sort out plot holes and such in the context of each case, but the important thing to keep in mind here isn't staying true to the exact plot of the games. We want to keep the emotional impact and the themes intact, though we want to keep the plot as close as we can while still making an impact.
... And while still keeping a reasonable time frame. XD

Kristoph is deceitful and engages in criminal activity. Apollo is very blunt, open, and honest; he would never think of doing something unjust. While Phoenix uses his knowledge to manipulate the law to achieve lawful ends that result in good outcome and Kristoph does the opposite, they're both still messing with the bounds of the legality. I love my sweet cinnamon roll son trilogy Phoenix as much as the next guy, but I almost think it would be fun to play up the similarities between Kristoph and Phoenix. |

Kristoph is Phoenix's opposite! Phoenix is very confident, even while bluffing, Kristoph is paranoid even when he has every detail wrapped around his finger. Phoenix is a chaotic good, Kristoph is a neutral evil. Kristoph appears good but is actually evil. Phoenix appears antagonistic but is actually good.

Kristoph is very much striving to follow the law, much like von Karma. They used the law as a tool to trap others. Kristoph killed a person, yes, but he used other laws to prevent himself from being prosecuted. Kristoph didnt care what the general public thought so long as he wasn't prosecuted. Compare him to the Phantom, who couldn't be found out, regardless of whether he was within the bounds of the law, or Daryan, who would lose popularity if he was suspected. Apollo similarly is very in tune with the law. "Evidence is everything in court." Apollo cares more about doing his job as a lawyer than saving his clients-- look at his attitude towards Wocky, Machi, and Tenma! He wanted to find the truth by following the law. He wound up caring about his clients in the end, but he would never break the law for them. In reality, Kristoph's opposite is Mia. She didn't care about the outcome of a trial so much as she cared about her clients' wellbeing. She was crushed when Fawles died, and she desperately wanted to save Phoenix not just from a verdict but from Dahlia. But Mia lives through Phoenix. |

I'm glad this question became asked and that it's clarified! Because I read somewhere that Phoenix was going to have a breakdown song, and that it would be proper for Kristoph to have a breakdown song, too, showing their opposite-ness (is that a word?). |

okay so you guys
while this is very interesting conjecture and stuff like that
the point of this thread was so that we could make a plot outline for writers to go off of, and then establish what songs should be written. As long as we are following (pretty much) the direct events of the game, this stuff shoudn't be worried about right now.

I know we're stressing out a lot about the time frame... So what if we just do drafts for cases 1 and 4 without worrying about time and see how much time we've spent?
The plots of acts 2 and 3 aren't important, but they're crucial because they give Ema, Klavier, and Trucy pretty much all of their character development. But we really need to worry about acts 1 and 4 first.
